Kathy Boudin, a remarkable activist and educator, was a former member of the Weather Underground, an anti-war and anti-racism organization advocating radical social change during the 1960s and 1970s. She served 22 years in prison for her role in a  1981 Brinks truck robbery. In prison, she tutored women in Adult Basic Education; was a founder of ACE, the model  AIDS Counseling and Education program; and earned her master’s degree from behind the walls. After being granted freedom in 2003, she pursued a career in education, earning a doctoral degree in Adult Education from Columbia University, where she co-founded the Center for Justice. Throughout her life, Boudin passionately advocated for criminal justice reform, focusing on prison and restorative justice initiatives. Her dedication to making a positive impact on society garnered recognition and respect from peers and scholars alike. Kathy Boudin's enduring legacy lies in her numerous contributions to the fight for social justice, empowering marginalized communities through education, and her tireless efforts to improve the lives of others. Her inspiring journey stands as a testament to the power of determination and the unwavering pursuit of justice for all. Kathy died on May 1, 2022, near her home in New York City.
